Julia grew up in Calgary and completed her BSc with Honours in Immunology and Infection at the University of Alberta in 2018. During her BSc studies, Julia gained research experience in cell biology, immunology and virology labs as an undergraduate researcher. She then pursued a MSc in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia, studying the importance of interleukin-7 in type 2 innate lymphoid cell development and their responses to airway allergens and Influenza infection. In 2022, she joined the Elahi lab, sharing her vast knowledge in molecular biology and immunology research as well as managing the lab to keep the whole place running smoothly. Outside of the lab, Julia enjoys exploring the great outdoors, crafting, and spending time with her cats!
