Research

Dr. Shokrollah Elahi is a cellular and molecular immunologist, head of Elahi Lab.

Dr. Shokrollah Elahi is a cellular and molecular immunologist who works on viral pathogenesis, immune regulation and immune system development.

His research is focused on understanding mechanisms underlying immune dysregulation to generate protective therapeutic approaches.

The Elahi lab works on different immune cells but his lab is, in particular, interested in CD8 T cells and why these cells become exhausted in the context of chronic viral infections (e.g. HIV) and cancer.  So, Dr. Elahi is working on coaxing the immune system to fight back again tumour cells. His lab works on different types of cancers including viral-associated and non-viral associated solid tumours, and hematological malignancies.

Our team works on diverse research projects and here are a few examples:

To understand how the microbial communities influence the brain development at the early stage of life.

To prevent tumor progression.
